May we exchange links?
An interesting question. How about ‘may you go boil yer own head you bunch of frickin’ morons‘.

I dunno, it was all looking so promising when they actually appeared to be asking permission before whacking a whole bunch of spam pharmacy links in the comments field. Jeez, this stuff just never ends

Ah, I run WordPress but i just hadn’t upgraded to use Akismet … I was just concerned in case there were ‘upgrade issues’. Maybe I should just take the plunge …

Yea Akismet is really really good, not a single bit of spam has made it though on my blog.

It is always good to filter the post to avoid spam in your blog comments, or just moderate them, but it is time consuming

There must be ways to install a spam filter. If you want just contact Steve in my office and he knows how he installed that in our blog. Greetings. Jürgen

There is a spam filter – it’s called Akismet and it’s easy to install with Wordpress. I already have it, but some things still slip through. Regardless, I moderate anyway, so nothing goes live without my say-so :-)

Lloydi, can you let us know where to download Akismet, please. Thank you.

Akismet is a feature that you can enable if you use WordPress. It may be available as a standalone download but it would probably need loads of configuration. I just enabled it in WordPress, so I can’t give you too much information, to be honest.

If you haven’t already, you should register for an account with wordpress.com – this will get you an API key which you can use to activate Akismet in your Wordpress plugins tab.
Comment spam will then be a thing of the past. :-)
