OK, so this is hardly impartial. When it says 'things to see and do', it's more like 'things I saw and did'. But it can at least give you some ideas. Here are a few shortcuts to the things I did and saw in Egypt that you might also like to try:

- Take a camel trek to St Simeon's Monastery in Aswan
- See the sound and light show at Karnak Temple
- Experience the Valley of the Kings by donkey
- Try a spot of snorkelling in Hurghada's clear waters
- Lose yourself in Cairo's Kahn El Kallili bazaar
- See the Great Pyramid in Cairo (well, why wouldn't you?!)
- See Sozer's step pyramid at Saqqara
